Who are LDS CAPA Therapists?

Heal and Help

Our therapists are here to heal and help. Our members consist of counselors who are familiar with and aligned with the gospel of Jesus Christ and counsel along those parameters accordingly. LDS CAPA therapists are not here to condemn you. Even those not believing in or living an LDS lifestyle can benefit from the faith-based support provided.

Holistic Experience

LDS CAPA therapists have a unique understanding of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its teachings. If desired, therapists can include these shared beliefs in their counseling to create a more holistic experience.

One LDS CAPA therapist shared, “While religion may or may not be a topic of therapy sessions based on client needs, my faith in Jesus Christ and my love for my fellow brothers and sisters informs how I approach working with clients. AMCAP allows me to build my therapy skills while also increasing my desire to serve God’s children better as they need and how He wants me to.”

The Value of Faith-Based Therapy

What are the benefits of having a therapist with the same belief system?
Shared Values and Understanding

A therapist who shares your belief system may better understand the values, traditions, and spiritual perspectives that shape your worldview. This can lead to more empathetic and relevant guidance.

Cultural Sensitivity

Shared beliefs can enhance the therapist’s sensitivity to cultural and religious practices, helping them to address issues in a way that aligns with your faith and avoids misunderstandings.

Comfort and Trust

Having a therapist who understands and respects your beliefs can create a more comfortable and trusting therapeutic relationship, which is crucial for effective therapy.

Spiritual Integration

If your faith is a central part of your life, finding a therapist who can integrate or respect your spiritual concerns into the therapeutic process can lead to more holistic and meaningful support.

Navigating Faith-Based Challenges

A therapist familiar with your belief system can offer more relevant strategies for addressing challenges or conflicts that arise from the intersection of personal issues and faith.
